we had to pay for a compulsory new years eve dinner last year at the legian paradiso hotel and weren't impressed that we "had" to pay whether we wanted the dinner or not.
we paid regardless and ended up deciding to attend the dinner on the night and it was one of the best nights we had in bali. the hotel threw out an unbelieveable spread, entertainment, etc and it was well worth it in the end. it wasn't anywhere near $185usd though
