for a first time experience i dont think you could have picked a better hotel. we stayed there on our first trip about 15 years ago and have stayed a many different places since (trying to enjoy some variety). we are heading back this dec/jan and will spend the last week of our trip at the padma and cant wait. you will be more than comfortable there and i'd safely bet money on the fact that you'll want to go back after that first impression.
