We were also in the same situation when we went in July this year - family of five, kids 11,9 & 5. We didn't want to blow the budget but decided exec suite was the best choice. Ended up booking through BaliDwipa, paid US150 per night including breakfast for all of us. This was seiously cheaper than any other site we looked at, including booking directly. We requested a ground floor room through Dwipa and then grovelled a bit more when we got to the hotel. Absolutely fantastic rooms (191) with a view over the pool and kids club. The exec suites have the advantage of having the lounge area (which the staff convert to beds each evening).
