Hi there!! We stayed at the dynasty in Kuta and had no trouble and were charged no extra costs for bringing a guest overnight.
If they are locals they will have to give their id cards to security just for your own safety as Kyra said but if they are not locals (tourists ect) then you will have no problems at all!!
Unless it turns into more then 1 or 2 nights and they stay all day too, then some hotels may charge you, but we had our friends over almost every night (during the day they were working) and the hotel had no problems.
