Visited one of our sponsored girls earlier in the year and planning to see the other in a few weeks. Last time i also left money maybe around the $100 mark with Sukadana at the learning centre who checked out what the family needed and this bought a double mattress pillows,study desk, stool, cooking utensils plus food. As for gifts we took a backpack with school things colouring books etc. plus clothes a sleeping mat novelty towel plus a nice soft ballerina bear. Luckily we also had SPare things in the boot of the car ie other small soft toys and cars to give to the neighbours and relatives that all gather around.. Filos list is a great place to look for suggestions. For boys when we used to visit an orphanage the biggest hit seemed to be soccerballs just take a pump over and leave that for them as well. I always pick up bits of the Happy house stuff at discount at the card book outlets which is great for girls..
