AN Australian woman facing drugs charges in Bali has allegedly told police that the methamphetamine - or ice - found in her belongings was hers.

Michelle Condon, 35, from Port Melbourne, was arrested late last week in Denpasar after a tip-off from a member of the public.

Police allegedly found 0.2g of ice, known locally as shabu-shabu, in a bag she was carrying around her waist.

While the amount of drug is small, she still faces up to five years behind bars under Indonesia's tough drug laws and a hefty fine.

Confronted by the media yesterday, Condon spoke angrily in Balinese and Indonesian, making finger signs and shouting the Balinese word for dog.

Police spokeswoman Sri Harmiti claimed yesterday that, under interrogation, Condon had admitted the shabu-shabu belonged to her and that she had been using the drug for the past three months.

"She also admitted she bought that 0.2g of shabu-shabu for 200,000 rupiah ($30) in Kuta from someone who she doesn't know," Ms Harmiti said.

Police arrested Condon in a street in Denpasar after following her for a period of time.

The drug was uncovered during a search of a bag she was wearing, Ms Harmiti said.

Police have described Condon as an "entrepreneur" and said she was a regular visitor to Bali, where she had an Indonesian boyfriend and a lot of local friends.

Her blood and urine are still being tested for drugs and she was yet to employ a lawyer, police added.

Condon was in Bali for a holiday and had been staying at a hotel in Poppies Lane 2 in Kuta and had been in Bali on this occasion for several months.

Police say she will be dealt with under article 62 of Indonesia's drug laws, which carries a maximum five-year jail term and $15,000 fine for those caught in possession of drugs.

Condon is the latest Australian to be caught in Bali with drugs following the cases of Schapelle Corby, Michelle Leslie and the Bali Nine.
