We stayed there October 2005. Walked in off the street and negotiated for US$30 [around AU$40, I suppose] per night for a very nice cottage style room for two people including an adequate cooked breakfast.
Spacious room with large, comfortable bed. Good aircon, fridge large enough for our needs and large ensuite with plenty of hot water.
Reception on Jl Danau Tamblingan, goes through to the beach. Quiet, both day and night. Situated central North, opposite good moneychanger and close to a variety of shops and a number of very reasonably priced and pleasant restaurants.
Can't compare it with other suggestions, but we certainly enjoyed our stay there.
