Hello, six friends and I are travelling to Bali for the first time from Dec. 23 until the 31st. I've been reading posts on this forum and other websites but am feeling a bit overwhelmed (there's so much information to digest if you've never been). I have a couple questions. Where is the best area to stay in for nice beaches and snorkeling with some nightlife( there are 2 couples and 2 single guys going).We were thinking about staying in Kuta for the majority of the trip and maybe going to Gili trawangan(sp?) but not sure if we have enough time caz I've read it's a good day of travelling to get there, and we only have 1 week. As well, we were looking for some nice places to stay near or on the beach for the first six nights that were budget (maybe max $30 US a night) and then splashing out for the last 2 nights (around $150 a night). I've been to a lot of asian countries and don't mind roughing it a bit(huts on the beach). Oh, we're all in our early to late twenties if that helps.
