wayyy back in highschool 1993, went on a camping trip in west java in the jungles... and at the end of the trip was a very sick chickie for about 3 weeks, and also anotoher student got it.
The doctor said it was from either unwashed hands by the people preparing the food, or the food stuff wasnt washed properly, or contaminated water, at first they thought it was malaria... but the tests proved otherwise.
And you dont need to be in the jungle to get it.. (typhoid)
wasnt a nice experience...and i had all my shots before moving over to Indonesia in 1990, so you still can get the diseases...but i guess not as bad as have no protection at all...
