I live in WA. State and fly out of SEATAC, try Portland or SF they seem to have better prices, look into EVA Air's Evergreen Deluxe class it's well worth the extra few bucks for that 12 hour flight to Taipei, we took China air last time to save some money. Wasn't worth it! Check at www.orbitz.com for some ideas on flights, then check directly with the airlines.
If you hear of a direct flight let me know I'd love not to spend all that time in Taipei.
