Last year there were 288 cases of polio diagnosed in Indonesia (including Bali). That brought about 3 National Immunisation Days and this has reduced the incidence.
Since then, there has only been 2 cases this year anywhere in Indonesia, with the last one reported on 20th February of this year.
As you say, if you're not already vaccinated against polio, there's some serious questions to ask.
However, there are still a lot of older folk who only had the Salk vaccine injections as kids who may be at risk. They should update to the Sabin vaccine, which is oral.
