a day visit. Depends on what you are interested in. You can surf, snorkel (there's excellent snorkelling areas at Mangroves (near Lembongan, also off Nusa Peneda Island (also a big underground cave under a temple there to see), explore the island and neighbouring island Nusa Cenegan by motorbike or bicycle, eat out at casual beach restaurants, canoe, enjoy some peace and quiet, maybe even get invited to family occasions like naming ceremonies etc. We stayed at a small guesthouse, very nicely appointed called Playgrounds, it has a small swimming pool and overlooks one of the seaside villages and it's very interesting seeing the seaweed farming when the tide goes out. If you want more info. email me, or check my JBR's from 2006 trip in the search engine. No hawkers, no clubs, lotsa bintang and nice fish for dinner.
