You can talk for hours on Bali and its hotels. To quote "Lonely Planet."
"Good places go bad and bad places go broke."
We have been to Bali 16 times. Started when the kids were 18 months and three years old. They are now 19 + 17. We have stayed in a variety of places over those years. Lately we have been staying at the "Garden View Cottages" which in location roughly speaking is in Jl Padma North. You travel down Jalan Padma towards the sea, turn right at Posers pub and about 50 mtrs along, there you have it.
Its very popular with Aussies (always seemed to be vegemite on the breakfast bar) rightfully or wrongfully we tended to stay there because the pool always seemed to be full of Aussie kids for our 2, to pal up to.
Sometimes you don't always get interconnecting rooms, even though the voucher has it in bold and capitals print.
Often they would be on the other side of the wall, Mum would lock them in at night and they were well trained at using the inter room phone service.
I remember one time, we stayed a hotel for one night, because we had arrived too late to travel over the mountain to Lovina. Hotel management confirmed with me that we would have the same two interconnecting rooms when we came back in 5 days time. You guessed it. Got back only to find that we did not have interconnecting rooms.
Infuriating as it is, you get use to things like that.
