I do go as often as I can, but I also go to other countries and love experiencing different cultures......so I think I am able to answer.
You can disreguard if you think I am not.
The last 2 trips (september and March) I have actually found them to be the least aggressive (the sellers) that I have ever seen them to be.
When I went to Thailand (tsunami time) the thing i really enjoyed was that they were not aggressive at all and if you said no thanks, even on the beach, they respected that.
The last 2 times to Bali they have really settled down and to me that was a relief.
Safety...well I choose to avoid sitting out the front of well known or touristy restaurants if I can. I do feel safe in general though and have always had the feeling that your life is mapped out and so all you can do is take the best care of yourself anywhere.
This next trip (March/April) we have decided it's time to get out of the hustle and bustle and we are moving around the Island. We will stay in Legian but also in Sanur, Pacung and Lovina.
