In response to queries earlier in this forum, I sent money to a friend in Bali via the Commonwealth Bank Netbank money transfer. Could not send it in rupiahs, it had to be transfered in US dollars. Then the Indonesian bank changed it to rupiahs. The minimum you could send to Bali was $100 US. This equated to close to 1,000,000 rupiah. The Commonwealth Bank charged me $22 to do this. However, when my friend went to his bank he only had a bit over 600,000. This means that his bank had taken about a third in charges. Western Union seems a much better way to go.
