Each time we have sayed in Bali for Nyepi, we have enjoyed a normal-ish day. Lights in rooms ok, asked to keep blinds closed at night. Meals are usually pre-prepared, ie buffet style.
Last Nyepi, we had the family of the hotel come in to play in the Hotel pool. They were lovely to watch, frolicking in the pool. We loved the sound of them playing, no tears!
I found it to be a great day to catch up on reading and relaxing by the pool. On our 'secret womens business' trip this year, let me assure you, we had not had time to scratch ourselves!
There are so many stars in the sky due to the lack of local lighting.
We could hear the sounds of the surf crashing on the sand, rather than motor bikes.
We got to chat with the hotel staff and learn more about their mysterious ways.
