So I'm home, got a beautiful golden tan and am suffering withdrawals from Bali. 1 week was just not long enough and now I can see why so many people go for much longer. Before I bore you I just want to say thankyou to everyone on the forum who gave me advise where to shop, eat, go out etc.
We arrived Thursday night after a very long and drawn out day as we had to go via Perth to get to Bali. Got to the hotel, Sofitel Seminyak and was very impressed with the hotel and the staff.
Pretty much went straight to bed for an early rise the next morning.
Day 1: went to Dolphine Leather and put my order in to have boots, made and shoes copied from a pair I already have. Then asked them if they could take the hem up on a pair of pants, my skirt taken in and a pair of pants made. Thought it would be easier if I got it all done at the one place. It took them 3-4 days to make and alter all these things. With all the things I got made both the flat & high boots I wasnt too impressed with but the high ones I dont mind too much as they are only for work in winter, everything esle I was very happy with and I love the pants they made. The rest of the day we just spent exploring and then headed back to the hotel to relax by the pool, plus Smudge was coming to collect some clothes from me at 4pm. What a lovely man he is and the work he is doing is amazing. Not enough people like him in the world. Sorry Smudge I didnt get a chance to come have a drink with you. That evening we headed to
Ku De Ta for a few drinks and then went to Made Warung for dinner in Seminyak.
Day 2: Took my friend to La Lucciolas for breakfast as it was his bday. Was so impresed that we booked to go back for dinner that night. Then went on a mission to find Ixora cakes so I could get him a bday cake. Finally found it after the taxi driver got lost. What a hard place to find but it was well worth it.
The rest of the day I just took my time and walked from Seminyak to Kuta whilst looking at shops and my friend stayed at the hotel by the pool. That afternoon went back to get the cake and then went to La Lucciolas for drinks and dinner. This was my favourite afternoon just sitting there drinking and watching the gorgeous sunset.
After dinner we went to Mixwell for drinks and met some lovely Indonesian boys that worked there so it was pretty much decided that this would be our evening hang out. Just a word of warning though, guys watch out for the lady boys along this strip of bars at night...ha ha they're quiet something
Day 3: I was picked up by our driver and he took me to Ubud. My friends mum has just finished building a villa up there (think it sleeps 6 guests if anyone's interested) and I went to visit her which was good as she was having the blessing of the house ceremony that morning. The local ladies had been busy making offerings, food etc. Once the priest arrived the ceremony itself went for almost 1 1/2hrs. It felt long but it was so worth it. Afterwards my friends mum and I went to the Royal Pinta Maha (hope I've spelt it right) for a drink. What an amazing hotel that is. I still cannot get over the beauty of it and how it is built pretty much on the side of the mountain. Unfortunately though we didnt see anyone white water rafting. When I got back to the hotel I spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool with my friend. It turned out that 4 guys, (which one of them happens to be my friends flatmate)had arrived at our hotel the night before and so we made friends with them and became the noisiest people in the pool. We were very well behaved though. We had seen Indo National but could not for the life of us remember where so that night we jumped in a taxi to go there but the driver didnt know where it was and we had no idea what street it was on. In the end we had dinner at Papas. The pizza was pretty good but my friend had pasta and it was terrible. It was still hard in the middle.
Think I've bored you enough for one day so I will continue the rest another time.
