Alang Alang is one of those things that requires heat treatment before being allowed into Australlia. You have to have a permit to import BEFORE you try to import it.($250) There is a treatment facility in Bali at Jimbaran Bay and the cost of this treatment is $60 US per cubic metre. Although the thatching is cheap to buy in Bali, it does take up a fair amount of cubic meterage. Dont try to import it yourself as it will be confiscated.
