I have travelled to bali on the 60 tourist visa a number of times. The process is simple and painless.
Complete the visa application form. You have to fill out 2 copies of the one form.
Affix 2 passport size photos on the application form.
Attach a photocopy of your airline ticket and itinery. If you dont have your airline ticket ask your travel agent to provide a email letter confirming your dates of travel and any accomodation you may have booked.
If you are not dealing with a travel agent then contact the airline you are flying with and ask them to provide an email or letter confirming your flight reservations.
For each person travelling you will need to enclose a cheque or money order to the combined value eg: 2 people = $120
It is ok to send your passport by Registered Post, however if you want the Embassy / Consulate to return them safely, you must also enclose another self addressed Registered Post envelope.
I also attach a brief letter stating dates of travel and list the enclosed copies of documents and your passport. Get a full set of photocopies, just in case. Also allow yourself up to a month prior to travel to send this off. It wont take that long to be issued but you will know you have the visa and it is one less thing to worry about later.
My last visa was received in Canberra on the Thursday, processed and stamped on the Friday and back in the post. I received it in Adelaide on the Monday. Couldnt believe how quickly it was done.
I dont know where you are based but if you are in the metro area where the indonesian consulate is located you can personally go in and submit the application and return to collect it.
Hope this answers your questions..cheers :-)
