We just got back from Bali on Thursday morning.
I will preface what I am about to say with that we didn't get to Kuta during our trip the closest we came was the Star Supermarket on Jl Legian.
Found the streets to be pretty quiet and was shocked to run into so few Australians. Most of the other tourists we encountered were European & Japanese. Was also surprised to find a fair number of Americans in our travel especially in Ubud.
So overall number down (especially from Australia) but also a real increase in tourists and tourist facilities at the higer end of the markert which is what they are really targeting at present.
