recently returned from Bali end August and was booked for the whole time at the Saphir Mabisa. When we arrived the lobby looked great but it was totally downhill from there. They said the hotel was running at 80 % capacity but we only saw about 5 other groups staying there mostly indonesians and dutch. The pool was disgusting pump was broken and it was closed down. The room wasnt much better flithy mouldy shower, dirty dusty lamps, broken phone, no towels yuck yuck yuck. At breakfast the crockery was filthy and saw a rat run across the table. Food was foul cold and old. Do I need to go further. We packed up our bags the next morning and met with our bali tour operator and demanded to be moved to a hotel of our choice. After an hour of heated discussion we had to pay a $20 cancellation fee and we chose to move to the Baleka Beach Hotel across the road. IT WAS GREAT. Also a 2 star hotel but clean, friendly good pool and good food. If you want to stay at a budget hotel do yourself a favour and book the Baleka. The Saphir Mabisa needs to be knocked down it is unbelievably bad and should not even be in Quantas brochures. Good luck and have fun.
