(1980) at Bemo Corner, Kuta organised to hire a bemo to Tanah Lot for the sunset. Off hubby and I went, saw the sunset, horror trip back as bemo didn't have lights and drove on the wrong side of the road half the time at breakneck speed. When we got back we handed over money (negotiated price before we went), expecting some change (of which we were going to give him back as a tip)... he says I keep the rest, no change ... oh, we say, that's ok, we'll just stay in your bemo and come home to tea with you. Our change got passed over very quickly and he missed out on his tip!
But bemos are a good quick way to travel short distances and also meet some locals too.
