I have been taking a diving knife to Bali and back again to use a a utility knife eg: cutting up paw paws, mangos etc. It only had a blade app. 16cm long. I was surprised two trips ago when questioned by customs, "what's this, when did you buy it"? I told them that it was app. 10 years old and what I used it for and it's history. Not good enough!!! It was double sided, I was told and that made it a "DAGGER" and was a prohibited import. I told them that it had been back and forth to Bali over the last several years. They looked at me as if that was impossible. How cold it get past customs so many times? I spoke to to a more senior officer and said you can see that it is a small diving knife and only double sided one side for 5 or 6 cm, surely it was OK for me to keep. Sorry Sir, it is double sided and will have to be confiscated. He even showed me the rule in a booked. I was taken away and had to complete a statement and sign a form saying that I was found importing a DAGGER, I said cant we call it a double sided diving knife. NO, it is definately a DAGGER.
I could apply to the Minister later if I wanted to!!!!!
So who knows if you can bring in a Kris (they are double sided).
Suggest you make enquiries before you leave. Good luck.
Cheers.
