Like most people I was pretty disappointed with Garduda's decision to dump Oz and Japan as direct connections to Bali. Dumping Adelaide created enough costly issues on its own...dumping the direct flights from Australia was enough to finally have me planning somewhere different next year - although now Garuda has allegedly come out stated that it is merely "thinking about this option" Perhaps they were just flying kites to guage reaction. Neverthless, the possible option of Singapore airlines is very exciting and I can tell you that I couldn't give a rats toss bag how much it costs, I'll take Singapore over Garuda in a heartbeat. My last trip with Garuda just 4 weeks ago was very disappointing. Very average airport lounges, dreadfully late departures at each end of the journey, food and general service was just so so, the seats were old, tired and very uncomfortable, no amenities kits, the inflight entertainment was no better than a Foxtel rerun and on the night flight home they could not even provide a pillow or blanket or even a simple rolled-up towel to use as a headreast...and this was meant to be business class. Garuda has some massive financial problems and it shows inside the aircraft and on the faces of its staff. On my last 6 flights with Garuda things have just continued to slide into a deep hole. Such a shame really because flying with Garuda somehow seemed to add something special to the Bali holiday. Lets hope it improves soon because the staff deserve better support from the airline and so do its passengers. Cheers - keviin
