I can recommend a really gorgeous hotel that is in the kuta area.
It is cheap, new, clean, small, great service and attention. The woman who manages it is a balinese who is married to an aussie guy. Her name is Hera. I stayed there in august this year, and it was absolutely wonderful.
The hotel is called the Samsara. This was my 18th trip to bali and i have stayed in many different places, but this one had a real great vibe about it!
