hi, if you fly Bali to Yogyakarta in central java it only takes about 40mins...
there are heaps of places to visit, so you need at least two or 3 days....
there are traditional markets, Borobudur temple, Prambahan Temple and smaller temples surrounding....
There is the SULTAN's palace, the SULTANS water palace...parangritis beach (black sand) very often have ceremonies here for all sorts of things. There are other beaches near by (white sand) very peaceful...UNLIKE BALI!!!
Yogja is very slow placed, not tourist filled, very traditional
Many nice places up in the surrounding mountains...you can climb the volcano MERAPI if u wish...to see the sunrise...nice waterfalls to visit....I LOVE JOGJA...been there heaps of times...
or you have MENADO...north Sulawesi....very famous for snorkelling/diving in BUNAKEN protected area.... again NO TOURISTS...well hardly any!!!...LOTS OF SEAFOOD...again...not as crowded as bali....again u can visit volcano's ...mountain lakes ...they do eat DOG here and u will find it on the menu!!! ...
it takes 3 hours flight from Jakarta...so im guessing from Bali its about 2 hours....
