In 20ish years of travelling to Bali it's never happenned to us but as others have said if they want to get in they will. Don't put anything you will cry over if lost in your baggage but take it in your hand baggage. You could always put a change of clothes in your hand baggage and basic needs, whatever they may be to you. I don't bother much except for prescription medications which would be my nightmare if lost. My husbands big thing is his portable DVD player!!!!
Now, no proof of this but I tend to think if your bag is locked up like Fort Knox it looks like there is something of value in there. Who's going to put the favourite jewellery left to them by a much loved family member in "Bali bag"?
