The rate has fluctuated between $1US - $1.26 and $1.31AUD lately and you are right. You did pay more. But at 1.2968 (todays rate) it would cost $32.42 x 5 = $162.21.
So actually us Aussies are all getting ripped off as we are paying $35-37.

The only reason it would cost $20 is the poor conversion rate at the airport. It actually states that the departure tax is payable in Rupiah only. I'm surprised they even considered taking it. They probably only agreed because they knew they could get a little pocket money from it.
