I travelled to Bali late sept. for the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival which is an annnual event really worth planning your trip around.
Garuda was the cheapest flight available at the time.
We sat on the tarmac before taking off for a good half hour before they annnounced cargo problems as the excuse. Then people down the back where I was sitting began muttering about cows on the tarmac. I thought I was hearing wrong but when I stood up and looked there were 3 large crates of cows being loaded into the hold! It seems they got stuck on the hydraulic lift and it was another hour before we took off. People up the front had no idea about the cows and down the back we had cow jokes going a plenty!
A week or so later my daughter was joining us - again by Garuda. She smsed me to tell me they were delayed I said ask if it's because of cows! She asked and the steward looked at her as if she was crazy. She had a look herself but could see no cows and it was two hours before they took off!
When we all flew home together last sunday on the 11.40 flight we were delayed another hour. We looked around for cows and started a cow buzz but no one actually saw any. But by the size of the queues when we got into Sydney I reckon the cows had gotten off first and caused the bottleneck,
I know times are bad for airlines and wonder if cows in the cargo is a normal practice or an extra earning measure.
Gives new meaning to the expression - it was a cow of a flight!
Or could be a new advertising ploy -Garuda - flying with cows can be fun! or
Don't leave your cow at home - fly Garuda!
or Seeing cows? - Fly Garuda
or What the hell was that ? a ufc! a what ? An unidentifed flying cow - fly Garuda
I just want to know
Did any one else see cows on the tarmac?
