Hi whitewog
We have stayed at both the Bali Hai and the Dynasty (both in Tuban). Found the kids club at the Bali Hai to be more suited to younger chilren. I don't think my children (now 11 & 9) would be happy in the kid's club there now. Personal opinion is that the Dynasty has more to offer in terms of activities for all ages. Lots of activities arond the pool. We also had a game of pool or two in the early evenings in the cool of the pub.
I do like the fact that the Bali Hai is right on the beach though, and really enjoyed that closeness to the beach where you can gaze at the happenings. I find the laneway from the Dynasty to the beach a bit confronting as it is quite narrow, and forces you very close to the market stalls.
You asked about meals - we found the buffet breakfast at both hotels to be more that adequate. The Dynasty had some sort of meal deal where a child eats for free with a paying adult at the buffets - tho' from memory I think the Bali Hai might have had this as well. We grabbed a lunch or two from the Cafe Piazza at the Dynasty where they made up fresh sandwiches/rolls etc. This was good for a lighter style lunch. There is also an ice-cream cart there, and that was a big hit. I believe the Dynasty has a greater range and better meal choices for kids than the Bali Hai. If you look up the Dynasty web site the kids menu can be found at the bottom of the page that has details of the kids club.
Another thing I like about the Dynasty is that the tax included in the pricing of the meals. Althought the tax is probably not all that significant, I just like to know the cost of things up front.
Having said all that, we hope to go next April and would like to spend a little bit of time up in Legian so I will watch your responses and maybe get some ideas for us up that way.
Cheers
