Saturday 28th Nurse Nadine from Perth and a friend of hers came with us to Munti to help with the first aide Agus my driver picked them up from their hotel and brought them to my house, another driver came in a Kjang with Rebecca the Sister of one of the Banjar leaders, to help with the villagers.
We that is my girls Madi, Iluh, Nurse Linda my driver Agus and myself with a couple of kids that we were getting medical treatment for, loaded up the two vehicles and made our way to Tianya first to the Puskesmas where we informed them that two children they had previously seen and said they could find nothing wrong with were taken to Sanglah tested and X-Rayed found to be ill enough to be admitted as inpatients one of them was diagnosed as having a very dangerous form of T B
Next stop up to Tianya Barat to drop off some of the supplies and for those going to Munti to get into the Kjang or on Motorbike as my drivers Zebra was not powerful enough to take the steep mountain road to Munti.
We took packet soup and liquid vitamins to a Woman with stomach Cancer also Heamaviton energy drink the nurses cleaned her up and gave her a check up but with her condition not really much could be done for her.
The Nurses gave first aid to the locals, then up to the Klians House to give books and pencils to School Teacher and do health checks.
Next on to Rebeccas village house to do health checks and leave clothes for the next village above, here we found many needing attention but on finding a very sick baby being looked after by its grandmother who had no idea how to take care of it we had to get moving.
The baby looked like a new born greyish in colour its skin too big for its very malnourished body but was a very sick 8 month old we had to cut the visit short when it was noticed it had stopped breathing.
We took the baby with us after one of the nurses gave it the kiss of life and made our way to the house of the Banjar leader of the village on the right of Munti.
Here we briefly stopped to pick up a 12 month old child needing plastic surgery to its face and its mother.
From here we returned to Tianya Barat where we rearranged what people were going in the Kjang so they could make get on their way quickly and make a speedy journey to Sanglah hospital Denpasar.
In Agus car we also collected Nengah to have her Mouth braces tightened she is a Girl that had Cleft Palette.
On getting back to my house I dropped the others of then went to Sanglah to sort out the payment arrangement for the babys hospital treatment. Rebecca had got the babys parents to meet them at the hospital so also arranged for them to be supplied with food and water.
I was informed that the baby had stopped breathing in the car on the way to Sanglah; it also arrested in the Emergency department of Sanglah, Nurse Linda revived it on both occasions.
The baby is doing fine its had blood transfusions but there will be a lot of work to ensure its survival but we are monitoring the situation and helping the parents by dealing with the paper work and of course paying the bills.
We have set up the other baby to have plastic surgery taking it through the system its now listed for Surgery that should be done in the next 2 weeks.
The 2 boys we had helped to get into Sanglah for T B C have now been discharged to return to Sanglah in 5 days for control and a months supply of tablets.
So thats where we are now.
