I agree with Clovis & TNT.E-tickets are fine.
Hey Peetz - don't worry about it,no need to say sorry, you were only asking a question re info you had been provided with.

I did a trip home from Bali with an eticket myself only recently.I guess my situation was a bit different to usual daily eticket check in though but nothing out of the ordinary for the staff to cope with.Under normal circumstances with an e-ticket I presume it should not be any different than a normal check in.

My insurance company had organised my flight home to Oz because I was sick in Bali & was unable to fly home on time. The Doctor, insurance company & airlines had all refused to let me fly home on time because of medical reasons.I had "lost" my original flight back with Garuda because I wasn't classified as "unfit to fly" & there were no other flights with free seats available on any airlines directly back to Oz for 4 days after I was given medical clearance to fly.It was school holidays in both Oz & Indonesia as well as the end of the World Cup so all flights were heavily booked both in & out of Bali.

The insurance comapny organised my flight back to Adelaide via Singapore with Singapore airlines. They sent me an email with an e- ticket attached.I printed it out & went to the airport at Denpasar & received my boarding pass for the Bali > Singapore leg & the Singapore to Adelaide leg at the same time.It was virtually no different than turning up with a normal ticket at the counter in the airport & getting your boarding pass.

The only thing I found that was different during my check in was because of my special circumstances at the time. The airlines basically wanted to cover their backsides re my health(which is understandable) & they wanted to make sure I had the proper stamps in my passport.

I was asked to show my medical clearance certificate to prove it was safe for me to fly. That would have been for both my protection & the airlines.I had a special exit permit stamp in my passport (my original visa had expired)that referred my recent illness & being recently classified as unfit to fly.I had a photocopy of a letter I had previously taken to the head of Indonesian Immigration that he mentioned in my passport (when he gave me the exit permit stamp )which had been written by the Australian consulate in Bali & detailed my recent health issues & treatment as well as several letters from the Doctor I had been seeing.
I had to produce these at check in to prove to airlines that it was safe for me to fly.Even with my special circumstances, expired visa, exit permit & needing to show them heaps of additional documentation -check in probably only took about 5 > 10 minutes longer than it normally would. The people in the line behind me were probably cursing me & the extra time it was taking but I was just so glad I was able to be finally leaving the country & be on the way home to my family !
