I had a look at Ubud Village Resort a couple of days ago. It is wonderful and very expensive. However, I talked to the owner and he said at the moment is 'soft opening' and rates will be a lot less than the agent's advertised rates (which are $US350 and upwards). It is in Pengosekan area, not far from Pondok Impian/Bali Breeze if you know where they are. It is in entirely a different direction to the other fancy resorts.

It might be worth emailing them to see what rate they offer if it sounds right for you. It is on the flat, built on 4 hectares of ricefields. Each room is not a room, but a true villa with it's own pool. Two small pavilions in the garden, one for eating and one for just sitting. The one I saw was 'garden view' and had been prepared for honeymooners. The bed had a huge heart made of red flower petals and they'd filled the bath and put flower petals in that too. It looked wonderful. I'm a bit vague in the layout of the rooms but I'm sure there would be room for a cot. The bathroom is not outside, but being it's own perfectly self-contined villa, not overlooked at all, there is a lot of glass, and doors you can open.

There are 3 levels of room - garden view, rice-field view, and 'pantry'. The boy who showed me around had quite good English and I thought that 'pantry' was a glitch, but no - it's in the brochure also.
