Hi, we always take a gift for our sponsor children, usually clothes and a toy of some sort, hair ties etc. They feel so special when they get a gift of their own. I also take gifts for the school. Chupa chups (some frown on these,)stationery and usually some sporting gear. The teachers love to get a gift, last visit they asked me to bring them an Aussie tshirt next time. Our school has just over 100 children so you might like to check with the organisation you sponsor with as to how many children are there.
One year I got very embarrassed. I took a bag of new kids tshirts and the principal thought he would give them out as prizes for good students. It was only when we got back to Legian that I remembered that I had a couple of bra's in the bag to give away. Not sure the kids would have been impressed getting a (large) bra for a prize!!!
