we have stayed at both and our preference was the kp. The padma is a lovely hotel and we were happy with our room - but with a 9yo in tow and an extra bed in the room it was a bit cosy. The KP had a junior suite (i think that is what is was called) with the extra lounge/dining room adjoining. This was fantastic. Even without a child I think we would stay in that configuration. It was great value for money as it wasnt overly expensive. The padma had its pluses - fantastic brekky, beautiful grounds but for us it was a bit big and certainly not as friendly as the smaller hotels. Also drinks/snacks at the pool were expensive in comparison to other hotels.
