Well I've been reading this forum for a few months now before we embarked on our first trip to Bali. Thank you everyone for your fantastic jbr's and tips, they enhanced our experience greatly, especially the restaurants and tailor recommendations. I now understand why it can be so hard to find places. We flew in on Sat 24 June and went through voa and customs fairly quickly and onto the Legian Beach hotel. Wow that first drive through Kuta on a Saturday night was incredible, cars, bikes, horses and carts and a huge bus trying to do a 3 point turn in the middle of it. Maroochy mr was fascinated how the women ride side saddle on the bikes. Fell into bed that night and awoke to the sounds and smells of the day. Wandered down into the gardens of the hotel and a first look at the beach and the surf, it was quite big and low tide, so went to a fantastic breakfast. Later went for a walk along to Halfways and thought this is ok, so rushed back to get our boards and had a great surf. Went to Uncle Norms that night for dinner, garlic prawns YUM! Our first day and we love it.
