Hi there, I have been reading the posts for the past month and check every couple of days as we are about to embark on our first trip to Bali on Monday 24th July. We have a boy of 13 and a girl of 11 and boy I really don't know what to expect. I think I am trying to find out too much before I get there. I guess when you're a mum you can't help but be a little apprehensive about the whole thing. Everybody tells me you either love it or hate it. The main aim of the trip is to show the kids how lucky we are living in this beautiful land and to be grateful for everything they have. I have a tear in my eye whenever I read about people who have fallen in love with the people and the culture. The main reason I am writing is that I would love some advise in where to see the REAL bali. We are booking a few tours and doing some of the touristy things but I would love the kids to see the real side of Bali. We are bringing 2 x bags brimming with the kids clothes which they have outgrown and toys they don't want anymore so I would love some hints on where I could give them out. I have read somewhere that you have to be careful at some of the orphanages as the kids don't necessarily get everything so if anyone can suggest and recommend an orphanage I would be most grateful.
We are staying at the Green Garden Hotel and hope to meet other like minded families. 9 days to go and counting.......
