If you havent signed any paper documents saying that you must take it with you when you leave the country. The customs officer was just trying to frighten you... He jealous that you have been to Bali before and your giving it away to a friend...
The only time you must take something out of the country is if you have signed docments saying that..
I think if you take it to airport and drop it and then put in bin you wont have a problem.. its on camrea then and you made an effort to take it back home with you and you never gave it away.
