Hi Shane, I always take cash and have done for the last 6 or 7 trips. Before that used to take travellers cheques. Hubby persisted in taking travellers cheques and has only taken cash for the last 2 trips. When he saw how many times he had to take his passport to change money. AUD $100 is a lot of money in Bali, however we don't think twice about carring this amount at home. We kept our money in a safe and took $100 or $50 bills out as needed. We always had a couple of $50 stashed in our purse just in case we saw a u beaut special, that we had to have then and there.

Take cash, but be very careful. Store in a safe with your passport. Most importantly DOUBLE CHECK THE moneychangers. If the rate seems too good to be true IT IS. I have been to Bali 15 times and in 2002 they actually caught me. When I got home I checked again and then marched back down, mentioned the word police and magically my money reappeared no questions asked. So be careful with regards to changing money.

We are also going again in December for our annual 3-4 week holiday, can't wait.
