Don't worry - the Dicovery Kartika Plaza Hotel has cameras at strategical positions. Unless you know the locations of the cameras, you will not see them, which is the purpose. And there is security in the lobby as well as staff at the reception at all times, at least that is my experience. The staff sees more than you ever think, again I know from experience as I one early morning came back after an arrak testing session, and everbody afterwards knew about how difficult it was for me to negotiate the few steps up to the lobby from the taxi. I saw noone in the lobby but obviously there were eyes in the corners.
For some reasons, however, someone who looks like a westerner/western tourist in Bali is considered not to be a threat, something that I do not understand. Tourists tend to be destroyers of most once virgin tourist destinations and cultures, at least in the long run but for other reasons than what happened in Bali in 2002 and 2005.
