I can't complain. I have only been bumped once (the night of the Bali bomb).
Usually I have via Perth or Meb as a backup. But only one flight a week going out of Perth this week. Melb not much better and full because of school holidays.
To go via Jakarta you need to purchase a Garuda ticket (pre book) or when you get there but as it's school holidays the only ticket left was $160 just to get to Jakarta. There are Lion Air etc also.

Via Singapore cost was good. Had to wait less than 2 hours. Plenty to do at the airport. I was lucky to get on the Sing/Syd as the flight was nearly full. Lots of French people going on from Sydney to New Caledonia. Plane was a 767-400. Huge with a lounge upstairs (for business customers) and personal TV's. Less leg room though.
Got home at 5.05 and had a sleep. I stayed up all night watching movies and playing the games.
With flights cut down now the problem is getting backups. If I didn't get home yesterday I had very little options. The next direct to Sydney is Thursday and that's full. Most flights were overbooked.
There were people who had been waiting days to get home.

I was going to risk the Sunday night but there were 14 waiting to get on. So at 2pm I booked a ticket via Singapore. Printed it out. ran to the hotel and grabbed my bags. Ran out front and grabbed a taxi. I said to him 50.000 if you get me there quick. Well he did a great job. Never been 90kph in Kuta before. I was at checking in time and took off at 3.30. PHEW. What a rush
