I also had problems with OneCover in 2005. My husband became seriously ill while I was in Bali and I had to get home quickly.
Put in a claim some time later for air fare home on first available flight (not the carrier I was booked with as they didn't have a flight until next day). The claim was refused on the grounds that my husband's illness was pre-existing. While this might be technically the case, I was pretty angry as(1) I was the person travelling and (2) although his problem had been diagnosed in 1994 there had been no recurrence of that problem for 11 years and neither was it the problem at the time of my return.
