Hi Cath
Yes it's a long flight but Singapore airlines are fantastic - certainly the best I've ever flown with. Decent enough legroom, best seatback entertainment and good food (for an airline). Flying out from Manchester was better service than returning from Bali. Plenty drinks (wine, spirits, water, fruit juice etc) coming round, and snacks between meals for those like me who find it impossible to sleep on a flight. Watching a couple of films, listening to the wide choice of music, eating and reading my bali guide book, seems to make the flight pass okay. I think it was 13 hours to Changi, then 2 to Bali (plus a couple of hours in Changi in between - as I said, this is no hardship as it's a good airport - try the free foot massage machine, check your email on the free internet, then get some air (well, feel the humidity!) in the outdoor sunflower garden). Most of all, enjoy your trip to Bali. I have also been to Thailand, which I love, but I prefer Bali. One thing - Bali doesn't have the same amount of 'picture postcard' beaches as Thailand's islands, but it's lush interior and friendly people more than make up for that for me. I'm sure you'll love it! One tip - don't bother getting too much rupiah at Manchester airport as the exchange is really low there compared with what you'll get when you get to Bali.
