DVDS < Is it illegal to bring them home?

What is the law with buying pirated DVD's do they stop you or confiscate them, Bf is already paraniod about customs let alone doing any thing that is even frowned upon, what advise can u give me that will settle him enough to purchase some? (FYI < His first time Os)
