Hi there,

Glad that you enjoyed the report - I'm sure you will have a fantastic time in Gili Trawangan. Don't worry about the parties - although the island is famous for them, they are really quite laid back and concentrated in one area i.e. the dive centre or bar that is hosting the party on the central strip. Unless you are staying right next door (which you won't be) you won't hear a thing.

The island has a wide variety of visitors - young, old and inbetween. I saw quite a few people in their fifties (and my dad was with us, and he is nearly 50). The island really has something to suit everyone.

There is no ATM on the island, so you will have to take enough cash over with you. There are dive centres that offer money back on your visa card, but the charges are very high.

Prices are very cheap - it is cheap to eat out well (between 10,000rp and 40,000rp a main course in restaurants - fresh fish is always more towards the top end, but is always delicious). I'd say things in general are about the same price as Bali (although there arent many things to actually buy here), or even a bit cheaper.

Just be careful of the pestering hawkers at Bangsal harbour - they are quite annoying.

If you have any other questions please email me - I'll be happy to help. Just click on my name and remove the no spam.

Have a brilliant time.

Camille
