iam going to be quite critical if i didnt like what i ate ill let you know.the ratings are going from, horrible, bad, fair,ok,good, very good, excellent.
here goes.as stated before we ate and zanzibar 2 times and the food was previously talked about.my rating good.the setting excellent.
legian snacks.food has been previously discussed.my rating good.best cheapie in legian.
indo national.i had the pork mie goring and it was very good.heaps of pork and very tasty.julie had the openfaced ham, cheese, and pinenapple sandwich.rating good.restaurant is twice the size of the old one.and the servings were huge.neither of us could finish meal.
katumbar.nice, modern, trendy like zanzabar on jl melasti next to bali aussie.best pizza i have had in a long time.the base was purrrfect.just like in italy.not to thick not to thin.we had the pepperoni and shared it and that was just enough.went back again for lunch to share another pizza and sorry wood fired oven only for dinner.oh well i had chicken satay sticks and julie club samwich.both ok.my rating very good.and FIONA we didnt have to pay an extra 7,000rp for cheese.
padang restaurant.dont remember the name, but it was on jl legian between padma and melasti.i had to do some serious talking to get julie to go,but she finally agreed.they spoke limited english but we sorta knew what was what.we had some chicken, tofu, potato balls, small prawns, cabbage in a sauce.some green looking stuff like silver beet, some dried beef {like beef jerkey)three different chill sauces, mild, medium and hot on the side.there was also a big bowl of greenish yellow looking liquid with some type of offal in it.i asked what it was and waiter just kept pointing to his stomach.think probably kidneys and that type of thing.but i did have some of the green liquid pored on rice.i thought the meal was ok.julie horrible.after meal we headed back to mbr and julie had a squirt attack so a quick stop at legian snacks.from there julie had the trots for a few days.my advice leave the padang for the sumatrans.
flying piano.had the t bone steaks there, and in all honesty they were just ok.very small, julies did not have the eye fillet part of t bone.and my eye fillet part was about as big as a teaspoon.about what you would expect for a cheapie pub steak in aussie.we also got hit by one of the ladies out front who ask you to try restaurant as you walk by with the time share pitch after our meal.no obligation, just upstairs for one hour and you will get free meal in restaurant or 400,000rp voucher to mataharis.we obviously declined.my rating ok(for the steaks)but the place was packed.
secret gardens.we go there every year and usually have the bangers and mash.but this year we tried the hot dogs.and they were excellent.kinda like a thick bratwurst type of sausage.cheapest bintang in bali sm 6,000 lg 9,000rp all the time.my rating good
YUTZ.had 2 meals there and it was the best place by far of any of the other places we ate.you might remember i posted when we were there whats the best restaurant on rum jungle rd.and i had 10 postings back.yutz yutz yutz.first time i had the tuna steak (very good)but i forgot to order it medium rare so it was well done but delicious and julie had the eye fillet.it had a bite of hers and it was tender and delicious, you could have cut it with butter knife.we went back again and both had eye fillet.and again just supurb.the only other place that served a steak as good as this was at the sofitel in brisbane for $aud 40.00. not 45,000rp.so for you steak lovers its definately the go.my rating excellent.
wayan and friends, steak again,me eye fillet julie rump both very good and thats my rating.same price as yutz
indonesian meals, most of mine were eaten off the carts, beach warungs described in previous postings.5,000rp each and my rating good.
koris, best satay in bali.we had 2 of the mixed ones and as usaual just supurb.rating excellent
tekor.ihad gado gado and julie had satay.gado gado good, satay a little dry.rating good.
melasti beach restaurant.sorry guys you still havent got it together for anything other than club samwiches.and ships.we even had a free dinner voucher for 2 and gave it to a couple of teenagers who were staying next to us at mbr.there mother wasnt interested in vouchers haha.she said she never at there.not even beakfast.just had coffee and toast.
in closing forget the padang, but for those of you who are game enough, try the carts and beach warungs.i have never been sick or even had a slight case of the trots.
for now salamat tingall norm and julie
