Well I'm back! Hong Kong was great. I'm a mess. Lots of flying doesn't agree with me, but it seems to be the price of admission. Once I get settled I'll record some impressions of Bali. I can't handle a day-to-day romp through my holiday. I'll tell of miscellaneous stuff and fill in requested blanks. Once I figure out how, I'll get a free photo thing like I keep seeing and upload a stack of pictures of rat, Bali and me. Never stayed on my own like that before and it turned out just fine. I'm happy to be back at my own keyboard and as soon as I regain what passes for normal with me I'll get on with my story. This is the only time I have kept a journal of a vacation, and it turned out to be great thing to do. I filled up almost 230 pages with handwriting I have trouble reading. Also for the first time I got into taking pictures. The first three days were taking pictures to see how the camera worked, and by the time of Wid's families wedding ceremony I was really getting into it. By the time rat left I was flying around with the camera in my hand at all times. Between the two of us we filled the 16mgb card five times. From the over 600 photos I quickly selected 100 photos from thumbnails and had them make me prints at FujiFilm across the street from Matahari's .It only took about 20 minutes and they were great. One day in there, they let me sit at their machine to select beach people pictures from four different cds. They fed me bread and singkong (who knew?). And the pictures were fun handing out. Doing this kind of thing kept me busy while the rat was gone. My first couple of thoughts for subjects are dogs, drivers, food, beaches, beach people and transport. It's hard for anything to exceed my expectations and I was leery going back to Bali so soon after having such a wonderful time on our first trip. You try to duplicate something and it usually doesn't work out. We didn't wind up duplicating last years trip, but if anything we had better time. It was not like I expected in some aspects, but just as pleasing. More later, jingles cc: ruthrat
