The pullout handle is in a pouchy thing. Ours has a flap that has velcros over it to close it off, but you can't lock it. I'm afraid although the husband is a little paranoid about the such I'm more the type that I just don't think it would happen to me! He's already gone out now but I'm sure he did something for the daughter's suitcase when she left, I'll ask him when he gets in.
