The Bali Sim Card is the cheapest. There are pitfalls
1. you have to write down all your numbers before you leave.
2. Pay the 7 cents per SMS from Bali to Aust.
3. Pay the small cost per minute for phone calls.
4. As you mention you are correct about dropping the "0"
5. Arrange for someone to pass on your Bali number.
6. Your friends don't have to worry about global roaming. They still come thru. They just need to make sure they can dial overseas and they don't have an overseas lock.
