you have to enable roaming to recieve text messages and disable any messaging services as you get charged (about $1.50/min) to recieve calls as well including your messaging services, another problem is the cost associated with ringing home and recieving voice calls. Some providers in Australia charge 75 cents each for a text message as well
If your friends have to call the hotel they'll be charged up to ????
Pro xl (my favourite sim) only charges 33cents per minute for International calls and even less for text (about 5 cents)
Marion and I take 2 mobiles over, nothing flashy just old Nokias with a single charger and it just makes life so much easier if u dont have to text all the time, especially when u cant find your Bl**dy glasses.
We Txt our number to all the family and usually print up some business cards on the computer before we go and just leave a space for the Bali mobile number ,
Some links for those that want to check out costs etc
